What's the going wage for live in and live out maids?

Yes, DMS, 800, she initially asked for 400, we brought her on 600 and now she is making almost 1000. She has 12 years exeperience aside from the 3 with us, a college degree and she speaks 4 languages.

Again, all subjective isnt it.

melissaphoto, its subjective, its not a lot of money for you but to these maids it certainly is.....

Melissa, it is more than she asked for, she is now making almost double what she requested.

If all their living expenses are paid for here, they pocket all their money which in alot of cases is much more than professionals make in their country. It is all relative. Do you know that the Karwa drivers make QR 1200 monthly? Some of the Indian nurses in Doha clinic only make QR 2400 a month? I am not saying this is fair but I guess it comes down to what is agreed between employer and employee.

I don't really understand how someone can possibly pay only 800 riyal per month. That is not a lot of money, even if they do have a place to live.

Living in Maids r 700-900 & certainly a room 2 stay & food. While the maids that just come over can be charged anything between 900-1200

By anonymous• 15 Mar 2009 13:39

no. It's a joke! It's start with a "D" and end with a "Y". If you put "A" in the middle, that's a very common name in my country! Lol!!!!!!!!!!

UK there is an agency for nannies of any nationality, the website is greataupair.com or something. I joined this and got CV's from Canadian, Australian, American and Brit ladies. _____________________________________________________

Dora I sponsor my maid, but my friends who found their live ins here also sponsor them and are paying in excess of 2000/month.

We got our maid from an agency and she was asking for QR 600 per month. We upped her salary after her first year with us and will probably do so again for the next year. A maids visa is only about QR 300 a year I think.

At the end of the day it has to be an agreement between you and the maid. The expectations and obligations are very clear when you go through an agency.

We are in the process of bringing one from Philipines and have offered here a reasonable salary of QR1200. Which we know is slight above the going rate, but we hope that she appreciate this and do a good service for our family.. We have given her a 3 month probation period, if she fails to impress she is on the next plane home. Same contract I have with my company I guess..

We have a live in but we don't sponsor her therefore she gets paid more than a sponsored live in but less than a live out! ( she has a sponsor btw)

make sure youre paying her not as much that will make your wife suspicious ;)

we pay our maid 25 Riyals a hour plus her taxi fares. If she works after midnight (which is rare), we give her double.

Living in is different as you sponsor them and that costs you per year for medical bills, food and clothes, flights etc. So perhaps you can try to pay her less than 25 but remember she has to be able to live and send money home.

My thoughts are my own, but I doubt my Mum would agree with some of them.

By anonymous• 11 Mar 2009 20:31

Amoud....do you sponsor your maid?

As I said before in your previous question...pay them what you think they are worth to you and see if you both agree!

Our live in takes QR 800 a month (she came on QR 600 a month).

My friends have gotten maids here, sponsor them and are paying 2000 and 2400.

Live out/part time are going for QR 25 an hour plus transport costs.
