Nanny Share???
Is there such a thing as Nanny sharing?
My family and I are new to Doha. We have a two and a half year old son who is happily adjusting to his new routine at nursery school/kindergarten or whatever you want to call it. We do not need a full time Nanny but, like many expats, we have no family nearby to rely on for the occasional evening of babysitting so we can enjoy a nice dinner out without wiping boogers and playing with trucks in between bites. -dont get me wrong, we love our time with our little guy, we could just use a few minutes to enjoy a conversation together- Likewise, we would like to do a little travelling and would like to "borrow" a nanny or hire someone we could trust to come with us so we could have a few hours to explore new places by ourselves.
Is this something people do?
I imagine the travel thing would be an issue and a multi-exit permit would need to be in place, at the least. But is it at all possible??
Any suggestions? Advice??
Thanks.
Thanks everyone. Will check with the nurseries and research the legalities :)

but that is not the reality!
No I don't think they are alllowed even if their sponsor ok's it! I'm sure its now illegal.....
nannies or kadamas can be lent. I know some sponsor who even encouraged their helpers to go for part time job after their duty in their sponsor's house (specifically those live-out helpers or nannies. But the best nannies are those working in nursery schools because you know they are adapted to young children and you can ask for referral or recommendation from the school itself!
Its against the law for employed 'nannies' to work part time!
Against the law? To hire a babysitter? Or the whole nanny share thing?
i think its against law so b careful
Another thing to remember is that since most of these ladies have a day job, they may not necessarily be free when you want them, so you should inform them at least a few days in advance, if you want to have a evening to yourself. These ladies may have t do overtime for their company and some times they may have to cancel plans at the last minute because company work comes first.
Check Doha mums and you can also call cleaning companies, sometime they have contacts of freelance helps who babysit as well.
Indeed Han, will certainly take care to thoroughly screen and get to know anyone we might consider. My son has only ever been left with one other person (besides very close family) and she was the daughter of a very close friend, so practically family as well.
I'm kind of at a loss for where to start as I'm not really in the loop yet. Gotta get connected with Doha Mums, I suppose. Maybe they will have some referrals or something.
Also will post an add as you suggested, Gabriel.
Thanks for the thoughts folks. Keep 'em coming, please.
I don't mind sharing - If she's young and cute :O)
Borrowing a nanny???? Not sure about it since the nanny will b working full time for some other family with full duties,or working for some company if you get a part time nanny.
You can get someone to look after your little one in the evening, but they are not necessarily nannies, they are ladies working during the day time, and do babysitting as a part time job.
Many philipino ladies babysit, but make sure that whoever you hire hs a valid ID with them and you have observed her with your child for some days before you leave your child with her.
