The other day I was missing sinking my teeth into tim tams, and the craving continued while i was driving to Oman from Doha via dubai, I stopped over Dubai and went to Choitaram to grab a can of ce..and lo behold what do I find??? a packet of tim tams....I'm not kidding it was the ONLY packet of tim tams left...not expired just a lone packet by itself.

My wish had been granted..if you remember the ads :P

I do wih we had tim tams in Qatar.

Tim Tam sucking is otherwise known as tim tam slamming, you bite off the corners of the tim tams, dip them in hot choclate/tea/coffee and suck the liquid through, till both the biscuits snap together.

Well megamart do have them, and I encourage you all to try them, and no I dont own shares in Arnotts to be advocating the buy signal for tim tams.

But in the end its generally the silliest things about home one tends to miss the most...and that no one can help.

Even when I did get a stronger urge to go back home, i applied for a job and got it and in the end I ended the talks it by telling them to match my Qatari pay package..they couldn't and presto I'm still in Doha missing tim tams :P

supernurse you made me laugh - I actually thought the chocolate tasted like that really cheap and nasty stuff too but dog chocolate? Have you actually tried some dog chocolate then or are you just guessing? haha. My friend uses her tims tams as a straw and sucks her coffee through them??? Strange but true - she is an Aussie so I guess that explains a lot!!!

Tim Tams are a chocolate biscuit made by Arnott's Biscuits, Australia. A Tim Tam is composed of two layers of chocolate malted biscuit, separated by a light chocolate cream filling, and coated in a thin layer of textured chocolate.

According to Arnott's, around 35 million packs are sold each year – nearly 400 million biscuits, an average of approximately 1.7 packs per Australian and 2.5 packs per New Caledonian. Tim Tams were first put onto the market in 1964. They were named by Ross Arnott, who attended the 1958 Kentucky Derby and decided that the name of the winning horse Tim Tam was perfect for a planned new line of biscuits

Just when I grabbed my keys to rush off to Megamart, I realise its 2:14am and the janitors at megamart would also be fast asleep.

Indeed the chilli tim tam were the best out of the lot.

Penguins could come close to Tim Tams, but a packet of Tim Tams is just that...a packet of tim tams and billion and one ways of eating them.

As far as i was aware you could get them in Mega Mart - mint ones I think - my Aussie friend loves them, says they remind her of home - I thought they were just a glorified Penguin but what do I know......

As with most edibles in Doha, one just has to be on the lookout. A couple of years ago MegaMart stocked a variety of TimTams and other Arnott products. Never did have the chili flavoured ones though :(
