Another point, in lebanon... you got over 8 sects of Christianity, From Roman Catholic/Maronites/Greek Orthodox/Roman Orthodox/ Syrian Orthodox/Greek Catholics/ Armenian Orthodox/ Assyrians/ etc...

there is no majority but the main 3 are Catholics / Maronites / Orthodox

Sha3nineh is Palm Sunday.. this is celebrated one week before Easter, it symbolizes (commemorates) the day Jesus entered into Jerusalem in the days before His Crucificion.

This gives a basic idea of the day and what it signifies

Forgive my ignorance, what is Sha3nine?

Is it similar to Easter (I thought most Christian Lebanese are roman catholic)

Sha3nine (Palm Sunday) is this coming weekend so dont worry. But you need to get down to Church and Book the Candle in advance as they have limited stock.

The church brings candles every year but according to my sister who was here last year, they finish quickly..

You can also buy a tall white candle and you decorate it. We asked a stand in villagio that sells candles if they can make these candles and it seems they have had several requests and are planning to go forth with the idea. so check it out..

Western Easter is the 12th this year, Orthodox Easter is the 19th. Have a blessed paschal celebration.

By the way, they are celebrating palm sunday next friday 3rd of April...

You can get a candle from Home center and some nice decorations, such as ribbons, flowers and prepare it by yourself...that's what I did for my daughter.

this is really nice!!!

Have a great holy week!!

I can go wherever I want, WHEREVER , and still want to practice my own tradition and my own faith ritual ... whether the country is Islamic, bouddhist, atheist or whatever...as long as it is legal to do so!

do you have a problem with that?

I can't understand: what upset you in my post? did I sound triggering a religious debate here? because I am not...

If you know from where to buy a candle specially designed for Palm Sunday, then please share with me, if you don't.. then just avoid causing harm when no harm is intended.
