Possibility of Sponsoring Husband and child

I am due to start work soon in Doha from the UK. Salary above 30K pmonth. My question is: how do i get my husband and daughter sponsored. is this the same as a PR, Can my husband then be allowed to find work in Qatar with that sponsorship. He is a highly skilled Microsoft Sharepoint specialist but hasn't been able to find work yet in Qatar.

How long does the process of sponsorship take. Would it be wise to apply for it at the same time i apply for my PR or do i have to wait till i get mine before apply for theirs?

I would really appreciate some advice on the above matters.

I didn't assume nor did I say it was a rule...simply that it is possible....

You can sponsor your husband and child as long as you meet the requirements, e.g. job title, salary, noc, bank statement but if working for a government company no need for bank statement. You have to get confirmed first before you sponsor your family, ussually its a minimum of 3mos. After that you can apply for family residence visa, ussually if no problem, it will take for 3-4 working days only, but if there is a problem, it will take long. Once they are here, processing of their rp will take only maximum of 2 weeks. Children below 12 yrs old no id is provided just rp stamp on the passport. I just got my husband and child this march. They already got their rp. Best luck.

The schools lately are very strict with enrolling the kids without the RP. Besides, there is a loooong waiting list in “good” schools

But, again, everything is possible here.. And again, it might depend on your company, and how deep they are willing to get involved in your issues, and how much they are willing to help you..

I am not discouraging you. I just want you to be prepared for a fight to achieve your goals.:)

Good luck..

Oh, and for your hubby... there is a MSFT office here, in QSTP.

--End-- :)

sadetimi, QAR.30,000 makes you meet a salary requirement. Your nationality is Ok too. Now, your job title requirement. the females teachers are easier to get an approval to sponsor their husbands. So is with the medical organizations (doctors). Another thing if you are a PA in some company. Then it is questionable. I do not say, it is impossible, but you will probably need to go through additional steps, to get a special approval. And in any case you cannot start the process of sponsorship any earlier than 3-6 month of being in Qatar. Why? Because one of the important requirements to sponsor your family is 6-months bank statements (which exceptionally can be reduced till MAYBE 3-4)

Mandi is correct. Rules, applicable to sponsored wife and sponsored husband are different.

also, AB, if you have sponsored your husband it doesn't mean it applies to everyone equally and by default. there are certain criteria and whole list of the requirements and rules, which are getting tighter and tighter literally day by day. ALso, regarding your "contract". I am not sure when and where did you get your contract, but Marriage certificate attestation is a must as per latest requirements. again, do NOT assume that your own experience is a RULE.

(oh, com'on now.. what is that new 700 characters limit?? It prevents you from giving a comprehensive answer! Anyway, to be continued..)

Your husband cannot remain on your sponsorship once he gets a job. That can become an issue if he gets a job and is under his employer's sponsorship and is then let go. What is his nationality?

No it was a married contract to begin with so it was sorted out when I got the job! he had bloods taken but no attestation needed. As for schools it's unlikely that there will be places in schools now, well the good schools anyway....

Just as a matter of interest. did your employer have to do you PR first and then you put in an application to sponsor your husband and family. I have one child also and im wondering what the process is or how long it took you to sponsor your husband. Did he have to do blood test and attestation from your home country before he comes to Qatar. I am still waiting for my papers to be attested by my FCO here in the UK and that is what is holding things up? I worry about my daughter as she will need to start school in september too?

Thanks

You have done the right thing, checking with your sponsor directly - there are so many different scenarios

Thank you all for the responses. I have now confirmed with my employers that I will be known as the main sponsor and I will be able to sponsor my spouse and once my husband finds work, then he can either stay under my sponsorship or get his employer to sponsor him direct.

Thanks

Rules change out here and I was under the understanding that it is now very difficult for females to sponsor their husband/children. I sponsored mine 3 years ago with my employer doing all the paperwork for it then a year ago a new staff member had alot of trouble even with the help of the company. I would suggest to check with your sponsor what the rule is currently. Best of luck. Nothing is impossible.

Im not sure if a wife can sponsor her husband (family RP) here in qatar..Family visit yes..Its better if you have your RP apply him a Family visit for 6 months and let him look for a job..that's the easiest way..

YES IT WOULD BE VERY EASY FOR YOU TO OBTAIN A FAMILY VISA FOR YOUR HUSBAND & KIDS.

ONCE YOU COMPLETED ALL YOUR RP(RESIDENT PERMIT) & YOU HAVE YOUR QATAR iD CARD IN YOUR HAND.

(WHICH MIGHT TAKE NOT MORE THAN WITHIN 45-50 DAYS MAX.)

THEN YOU CAN REQUEST IN YOUR HR TO GIVE YOU AN NOC FOR CALLING YOUR FAMILY HERE TO QATAR, ITS VERY SIMPLE

(& RIGHT OF EVERY EMPLOYEE TO DEMAND FOR IT IN A FRIENDLY WAY)

& ONCE YOUR HUBBY & KIDS ARE HERE & HE GETS RP SAME AS YOURS iD CARD PROCESS.

ONCE THEY ALL R SETTLED HERE & THEN YOUR HUBBY WILL GET GOOD JOB AS MANY IT & TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMPANIES HAVE BEEN OPENED & MANY IN LINE TO START.

HAVE PATIENCE & EVERY THING WILL WORKOUT OK.

THANKS

On your salary you will be more than fine - there are loads of people in your situation - and more on the way !

Unless you have a letter of no objection from your employer, you may not sponsor your husband irrespective of your salary. You may sponsor him on a visit visa but only when you have your RP.
