nishamani, we all understand perfectly what you are going through.. and have to admit, it's not easy...

but since "he never even had any respect...", why do you need this man even?? we don't know where he conducted his so-called marriage.. it doesn't matter.. does it matter whether he has a paper of marriage or not? he has betrayed you anyway, with paper or without..why do you need a traitor??

I want to hire five Sri Lankan ladies.

1-To clean my feet and hands

2-To scratch my back .

3-To clean my face.

4-To do my house cleaning and laundry.

5-To wash me throughly including Peter.

6-I'll hire the Filipina for her cuisine skills. No Sri lankan woman could outmatch the filipino cuisine.

If they didnt do the whole thing in the shariah court or in front of an Imam who is authorized by the court then the marriage isnt deemed legal here. True the marriage will be proper in the eyes of Allah but not the authorities here.

As for someone complaining on your behalf Nishamani, no one will get themselves involved in that as they would have to appear in court and actually witness what was happpening in order to offer valid testimony.

and registered are viewed as legal in the US. However, if the marriage is polygynous then that presents legal complications in the US if the couple decides to live there. Certainly, if all parties are legally married in a polygynous arrangement and then decide to take that show on the road to live in the US, they will be doing so illegally and would have trouble getting papers to immigrate as a polygynous family.

None of us know whether his marriage has been certified in a court but I am almost certain that as long as they recited the proper intentions to enter into a nikah in front of 2 witnesses the marriage is Islamically valid -- UNLESS she was already married and hiding the fact.

as Amoud mentioned, this marriage most likely won't be recognized in Sri-lanka anyway...

by the way, on the same note, PM, is marriage in the Shariat court between muslim and non-muslim is recognized in USA?

PM, she is wondering if she can do something in case their marriage is not legal.. she doubt that their marriage is legal. She thinks that to get married here he needs a NOC from his first wife, because when he was back home he asked her for such letter. She has doubts it was conducted in a legal way...

Again, we cannot make sure whether the marriage was conducted in the court or not.. may be the guy used so-called "temporary marriage" which has no legal power in qatar. But may be he did it to get this filipina relaxed, or God knows what these jerks are thinking every time when start playing their dirty games...

Nishamani, ask him for the copy of the Marriage certificate... that's all you can do..

wife to marry another. It is advised to discuss and inform his wife from an Islamic view of kindness and understanding towards the first wife, but in no way is it required and he cannot be compelled to do so.

He CAN marry her here in the Shariah and/or in front of an imam. And yes, in Shariah it is registered. Furthermore, an imam is also supposed to register it in the court.

You cannot complain because he has done nothing wrong according to Islam and the law.

I am so sorry for your pain and urge you to consider whether you are not better off without this jerk anyway.

Nishamani you cant get her deported, you arent even here to report them to the police or complain in the court.

Just curious, how is he claiming he is married when he hasnt gone through any of the procedures? ____________________________________________________

I am not sure about Sri Lanka but it is perfectly fine here in Qatar as long as he married in the court or by an Imam and had the marriage registered in the court.

He doesn't need your permission darling.... nor does he need a letter of no objection.

I think a rather large issue is that this marriage will not be considered legal in Sri Lanka which, I believe, does not recognize mutliple marriages.
