swimming with open eyes , hi guys i need to know is it healthy to swim with open eyes or without any protection in both sweet salt water (swiming pool , beach )
how do you know your direction if your eyes is closed? Now if you really want a good suggestion, wear a protection for your eyes such as goggles, but with or without goggles, you need to open your eyes to make sure you won't hit a GLACIER! Lol!
Peter Griffin, I hope you understood that he was speaking about protecting eyes while swimming and not becoming blind. I think it's your nature to mock people right from the outset rather than comment positively
Swimming without goggles anywhere is pretty unsafe.
There isn't only chlorine that will hurt your eyes after sometime in the pool, but also dirt, sand, other swimmer's sweat, urine, etc. In the river or sea, that is even worse - oil slick, faeces and other pollutants from dead or living marine creatures. Not trying to freak you out, but is totally true, in reality. Perhaps you could ask some elders who have decades of swimming experience.
The goggles also act as a safety item to prevent other swimmers fingers poking into your eyes because many people are swimming in all directions. So wear one, though it may be a bit uncomfortable. Be safe and enjoy! :-))
Millions of contact lens wearers swim and dive without removing their lenses and without experiencing adverse consequences.
But water exposure — whether fresh or seawater — is a commonly cited risk factor for the development of Acanthamoeba keratitis (a protozoal infection that has a blinding potential) .
It's essential that patients properly disinfect lenses after swimming. It's also prudent that patients never sleep in their lenses after participating in water activities.

Well think about it this way, Most people open their eyes when they swim, and we never hear about people getting blind after leaving the beach.
Plus, google things like this!
SO what will be the answer is open eyes or close eyes guyes ?
Exactly Peter.. if he keeps both eyes closed how will he know where is going!
lol Jayca!
how on earth would you swim with your eyes closed?
Lol, goggles i mean, that's how the OP describe it :p protection as he says :p
DK- safety first :p
ingeniero- what other precautions you want
edifis- protection not only means condom :p , but you can use it when your going to swim somewhere else :p
Jayca do you mean I should wear a condom even when swimming in the sea?
unless your doctor didn't recommend that :P
in pools no-----> full with clorax.
in open sea yes---> it will clean your eyes from any minor infections
Jayca, any other precautions?
lol jayca..PPE at work or play :-/
Always wear protection!!! :p
I prefer to keep my eyes open...in salt and fresh water.
Arabian sea water is pretty salty, the eyes will burn if you keep them open inside the water. In fresh waters there's no problem.
whther is salt water, or swimming pool , u should clossethe eyes
eyes are the most sophisticated part, you cannot compromoise on quality of water
