TGi Fridays - an experience to share..

ok, this is just an experience and no offense to the TGI lovers.....
today choose fridays(villagio) over nandoos for a birthday dinner. only then to reqlize our mistake.. but here is our story. a group of four entered fridays, all looked dull and sober. hoping for a good sizzler, ordered combo fajitas with sizzler chicken. first was served french onion soup which was never ordered.. then taken back. after came the best part SIZZLERS.. it was as dead as kiwi. when asked if this is sizzler, the barrer prompty replied, see sir it was sizzling when was taken from kitched, but now it tamed down.. lol...
and looked at us like enemy who has dared to ask him a question.. cool down.
after we ordered Brownie obsession with so much of obsession,,,, was let down again with super concentrated sugar syrup poured over which made us to hate sweet for the first time in our life...

wow!!! it was fun though with the most terrible experience at TGI fridays. after tipping, left the feedback card with suggestions to improve, before we could turn our back, the card reached bin straight like a rocket on fire... hahahah... very funny and had a good laugh about it. no wonder.......!!.

good luck with your exciting experience.

TGI here is not cheaper, than in the rest of the world. Therefore, I don't care, how much they been paid.

I beg to differ a bit, gadarene. the surety of whatever thrown at your need not be clean entirely. True the municipality is strict here, one good thing. but practicality of implementing it to the core is beyond control.

one thread in the QL forum also narrated an incident where a worker in KFC spitted at a snack box before hading it over to customer, coz she was unhappy with whatever!!!!!. . yak...

the idea is that these so called big joints should make and keep their employer happy, so would it be passed on to their customers.

irrespective of all these, the service (food and service) cannot be compromised, we are paying a price for the service we ought to get..

EVERYTHING is here but ONLY in name & as someone correctly pointed out,you get what you pay for...ALL these big brands,be they restaurants or high street shops know that the local market is unaware & unexposed save for expats who've moved here from the real world, they also know that they can dish out anything & NO ACTION will be taken against them...the municipality here has very high standards,no doubt but they are responsible for maintaining standards of cleanliness, which means you can be sure that the bland & tasteless food that's thrown in front of you by a waiter who's pissed off with their job, with their pay,@ being away from their family,@ having to deal with boorish, rude, rich locals who treat them like dirt...was prepared in a clean environment. isn't that a comforting thought people?...the food tastes like crap but at least it's clean crap!!!...

none of us could finish our food there, it was tasteless. This includes my 15 year old son who usually inhales his food without ever even tasting it.

No offense taken.

We are loyal clients of TGI. We love their food! and we have been in Doha since it opened which I think it was around 2006? I dont know. Their food is delicious and never had a problem with their service.

You guys had bad luck that day! :)

Shyams,

You must know that all businesses in Qatar must be co-owned by locals (who own at least 51%)

These big brands devote the minimum effort in markets like Qatar (volatile population and generally unprepared to demand high standards) where customers are seen as given easy prey.

These big brands only have one intention here, is to make a bit of money and for that they will follow local salary ranges and local service standards.

Now try to write to their Headquarters and report what you did here in this post. You will see that you will get a professional reply, contrary to what you could ever expect here in Qatar, where substandard service is seen as the norm!

Nic, i couldnt imagine if big names like TGI paying wee pay to their employees, that too for the chef???, if true its shocking and shame.

its sucks here, the quality is too bad so as the service to compliment it. There is health inspection, wonder why not a quality inspection :-)

Shyams,

Because of the very low salaries these poor souls receive, the quality of service depends on their mood and abilities and of course on their manager’s ability to lead.

From what you say, the TGIF at the villagio has even worse management than the one at Landmark.

agreed nic. thats the reality. but still could upkeep a standard for the name they pose. pity though.

deecee, you are rite, even i felt the food and service much better in landmark so thought of trying it in villagio, just to realize the disaster. funny how could it be so different from same joints at different location!!!. as nic said, its Qatar. :-D

Once we had steak and soup and salad in TGI Landmark we loved the food verymuch so next time we tried it in villaggio and it was not good and it made us very sad.

This is Qatar!

We get the service in accordance with the salaries these people are paid for. Mostly untrained and unskilled people would accept the miserable salaries they pay here in Qatar in restaurants and shops in general. To aggravate the situation, this includes management and as such they have no clue about training and supervision and leadership.

In short all are here for one thing only, the salary at the end of the month.

Little or no pride you can see here on people working in the service and retail sectors!

Sad but this is Qatar and it won’t change until national policies will figure out how to motivate and attract professionals to Qatar!
