yes, there are mosquitos here in qatar. also you will find bedbugs sucking your blood while you are sleeping. don't use wooden beds only made of steel. your mattress do not remove the plastic cover so that bedbugs will not be staying there or reproduce. check also your laundry items before using from laundry shops, i suspect you will find bedbugs.
Compared to other parts of the world I've been in, there are very few mosquitoes in Doha. I recall seeing maybe two all this year and don't miss them at all. :-)
In traveling around coastal desert areas here, however, we have at times encountered some rather pesky tiny biting flies.
Overall, if you are not near stagnant water you will not find them...mosquito larvae need still water to develop.
Fook me. I've never seen a shop selling iphones - it doesn't mean they don't exist here!!!!
There is dirty water in Qatar
There ARE mozzies in Qatar.
If your child has allergic reaction to them I suggest you bring whatever medication you need and make sure you protect your home with adequate nets and use 24 hour protection such as the plug in Raid Mosquito repellent they sell in most supermarkets.
Strange they should sell it if there are no mosquitoes!?!?!?
If you are unsure about an answer keep quiet rather than giving supposition.
I don't think there are mozzies here, but there are other biting insects which give me an even worse reaction than a mozzie bite.I don't know what they are as they are very small and seem to be gone by the time the nip is felt!
Faz. You have been lucky. Mosquitos ARE in Qatar - car wash puddles, a/c condensate drains, and TWO frickin big sewage pools down Salwa road all have mozzies in them!
Never encountered mosquito bite since my birth in qatar.. Mosquitoes survive in an area where the water has logged for a while and/or thrash is openly dumped around.. Luckily we have no such places here.. So dont worry..
mosquito are around anywhere in the world. to avoid being bitten by mosquitos, try a chemical product named "OFF' by Bygon, its a lotion to be applied to your body and it's effective.
