1. Light Me Lusail

Light Me Lusail - The International Light Festival is all set to start today and run until January 18 at Lusail Marina Eastern and South Promenade.

The festival promises to be an evening of magical wonder and enchantment. The evening sky will be lit up with colors that come to life on the horizon leaving you fascinated and entranced.

This edition will feature 12 art light installations, 2 boat routes, ezgo cars, and food and beverage stalls.

Bring your family, bring your friends, be a part of this enlightening evening that is sure to leave you spellbound and awestruck. It'll be an evening to remember!

2. Kaffeinated Festival

Where: Katara Cultural Village

3. Chinese New Year celebrations

Chinese New Year is just around the corner.

Celebrate the Chinese New Year with a plethora of activities at Dragon Mart Qatar from January 17, 2020, to February 13, 2020, every Thursday and Friday, 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

Chinese New Year is also known as Lunar New Year or Spring Festival. It is the most important festival in China. This year, Chinese New Year falls on January 25, 2020. The date varies every year depending on the lunar calendar.

From the Chinese food festival, Kung Fu Tea to traditional dragon dance and cultural performances, you can enjoy it all with the whole family.

You can indulge in some authentic Chinese food and taste the traditional Kung Fu Tea which is Kung Fu is a tea brewing process. In Chinese, Cha means tea, and Kung Fu means Chinese martial arts.

In addition, you can also enjoy traditional Chinese instrumental music.

4. Marmi Festival 2020

Where: Sabkhat Marmi – Mesaieed (Sealine)

One of the largest falconry and hunting festivals in the region, the Qatar International Festival of Falcons and Hunting is back with its eleventh edition this year.

Known as the Marmi Festival, the event is aimed at preserving and promoting the sport of falconry, which is held in high regard in Arab culture.

The Marmi Festival is one of the most anticipated events of the year and is characterized by strong competition and heavy public attendance from different countries in the region.

The event sheds light on Qatari culture and hospitality through various shows and competitions.

Falconry is one of the most prominent and admired parts of Qatari culture.  It is a tradition that is deeply rooted in the Qatari lifestyle. Qatari elders take immense pride in teaching the younger generations the art of falconry, so they can enjoy the sport like their forefathers.

Al Gannas, founded in 2008, is Qatar's main cultural association entrusted with the aim to promote and preserve the modern form of this ancient sport.

Not only does it consist of state-of-the-art facilities and equipment needed for hunting and conduct research in falconry as well, but it also organizes falconry events and represents Qatari falconry experts in regional and international contests.

5. Doha International Book Fair 2020

Dates: January 9-18, 2020

Where: Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC)

Time: The fair will be held from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. On Friday from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and on Thursday from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm.

Book lovers in Qatar should be feeling quite excited as the 30th edition of the Doha International Book Fair (DIBF) is currently underway and runs until January 18, 2020, at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC). 

The slogan for this edition is “Do you then not contemplate,” inspired from a verse from the Holy Quran. The fair is organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports and it will take place under the supervision and organization of the Qatar Centre for Cultural and Heritage Event Center.

This year’s edition will mark the 30th anniversary of this remarkable cultural event which is also the largest international book fair in the region. The fair is popular for attracting a large participation from Arab and foreign countries.

Doha International Book Fair will coincide with the launch of the Qatar-France Year of Culture 2020, which will enable a momentous French presence during the event, along with a diversified cultural mosaic.

In addition to the book displays, the Book Fair will also feature writers, dozens of sideline conferences, workshops, and cultural activities.

6. MIA Park Bazaar

Dates: January 3 - April 25, 2020 (Friday and Saturday)

Where: Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park

Time: Fridays (2:00 pm – 8:00 pm) and Saturdays (12:00 pm – 8:00 pm)

Entry: Entry is free for all

This year’s Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park Bazaar, a seasonal weekend market, is proving popular since it opened to the public last weekend. For home-based business owners especially, it has proven to be an opportunity to boost trade and increase exposure.

MIA Bazaar has got a vibrant mix of 120 stalls and new ones will constantly pop up. MIA Park Bazaar is a modern version of the old souq tradition.

The stalls are offering a wide range of gastronomies from all over the world.
