Thyroid Patients

Dear Friends,
I am having Hypothyroidism and want to share and to get knowledge from other friends who are suffering like me!
Could we start a thread in Family Forum on this subject? We can greatly help each other by exchanging our experiences and related stuff.
The best way to go about it is read a lot about the condition. Eat thyroxine pills every morning, the dose which doctor suggests. But you should always keep your body under your own constant supervision.Look out for tireness beyond explanation, feeling cold, constipation, etc.Constipation(or a good bowel movement) is the best marker for your thyroid levels being normal or not. The hearing can get affected in due course. And so do we have a chance to have a higher cholesterol level, earlier onset of Diabetes, osteoporosis, etc.
Keeping the weight under control will be a problem for most of us, though I have seen some doing it really well, with food control, exercise, doing something interesting all the time, etc.
TYhyroxine is the only way to treat this condition, not anything else. And we all should thank God that we do not have to do injections as for Diabetes!........
My Endo problem is now getting bad. My skin starting having impacts now.
Taking 150 mg Thyroxin but started having dry spots on my skin. The worse is inside my ears where a little soap ingress always causes infection.
I have to use silicon soft plugs during shower otherwise an immediate problem.
Do you have any problem in ears? I had worst effects on my skin, so I am looking forward to consult a Skin Specialist?
It is being said that Iodine can substitute Thyroxin? I wonder whether it is correct. But how could Iodine make glands functioning again?
Could you share your experience please?
Initially when my problem was identified, I approached a doctor in Hamad Hospital but He put me in shock when I inquired about the units of Hormone dose!
When He told me using of 100 mg (He said “EM G”) of Hormone tablet.
I asked, if it was milligram or microgram? He was confused over units. I left him immediately and proceeded to my base country for my initial diagnoses and treatment.
They have one Endo in Future medical center (opposite to Villagio )
Hi, This is my seventh year in Qatar and im hypothyroid too, Im still hoping to find a good Endo here. I've tried in HMC evening clinics but a waste of time. I need to know, if there is any private clinics? Good Health
