Restaurant chain to donate day’s take
QATAR-BASED Wataniya Restaurants has pledged to donate every riyal spent at its 15 Qatar restaurants on Sunday to provide food and medical supplies to the 1.5mn people of Gaza.
In partnership with Reach Out To Asia, the day’s income at all branches of Al Rifai, Awtar, American Grill, NY Deli, Mongolian Barbeque, Sbarro and Pita Fresh restaurants will be donated.
“As a food business, Wataniya feels strongly the human suffering caused by starvation,” chief executive Nasser Beydoun said while urging everyone to visit a Wataniya restaurant on Sunday.
The bombing and ground invasion has caused severe damage to the civilian infrastructure in Gaza with many areas left without water or electricity, he pointed out.
“All Gaza hospitals are reporting being out of critical supplies and the basic supplies they do have are running out fast,” Beydoun said.
Wataniya Restaurants and Reach Out To Asia are responding with emergency packages for children and families affected by the bombing.
Donations to the Reach Out To Asia Gaza Relief Fund can also be made at the QNB Qatar Foundation Branch, Account Number 0035-004919-004 .
Meanwhile, Qatar Charity said that expatriate communities in the country had actively responded to its campaign for Gaza.
The Indonesian Muslim Society handed over last Saturday QR75,000 collected from community members. The Indian Friends Centre also mobilised donations.
Qatar Charity’s relief team is present near the Rafah crossing point to transport all items of aid in association with its field office in Gaza.

nocomment, would you like to edit or delete your irrational comment, rather than look silly? How can "Wataniya Restaurants has pledged to donate every riyal spent at its 15 Qatar restaurants on Sunday to provide food and medical supplies to the 1.5mn people of Gaza" possibly be construed as money going to America or Israel?

Did you Google it first?

I think for that one day (is it just this Sunday or every Sundays - if so for how long?) the money goes to Palestinian funds. I guess on other days, some percentage will go to paying the franchisor/owner (could be supporting Israel). If one's not comfortable donating via these restaurants, there are other channels to contribute - and please do contribute!

My feeling is that even if one of the restaurants are of American/Israeli ownership - if you eat in them for that day (and I stress that one day), the money is transferred to help Gaza's ill-fated population. This will never be a bad thing in my opinion regardless of who owns the gaff.

Could someone really prove to me that none of the restaurants in this group are AMERICAN or ISRAELI. Because if there are, then it would be foolish to go and eat there and say its for GAZA help. :)
