15 years back I was still doing the same job and had a desktop (P3)instead of an i3 laptop. There were no forums like this. There were no traffic jams. It was taking only 10 to 12 minutes for me to reach my office from home and backwards but now it is taking 30-40 minutes. My best shopping place was the souqs and was dining in Welcome Restaurant.

I think my modem was a blisteringly fast 28.8k (Well 28.8k claimed speed). Surfing was much more leisurely then. Plenty of time to keep popping off to make a coffee, especially with all the drop outs, and constant redial attempts.

Yeah stuff sure was different back then. I was still in school and having a computer was luxury we couldn't even dream of! And I had never ever connected to the Internet back then...amazing how so much has changed in fifteen years!

@Time Bandit - seems we r of the same age as far as surfing is considered. it was damn slow in our place that time.

email pals (sort of pen pals) bloomed during those days :)

Humm... let me think... 1996.... I was surfing the net on my wind up modem, I was down loading music (which was good music back then), and listening to it while I worked. Can't remember downloading movies or watching movies on a PC at that time though. Of course I was communicating my email, but there was no VOIP back then. There was a chat MSN type thing, and I think it belonged to Yahoo, but I can't remember clearly. And I was using MIRC on news groups. I had a CD writer and was burning music to disc. And windows 95 was the operating system of choice.

Actually I have a portrait in an attic somewhere that is getting older, and I stay young all the time RJ.
