NIC, i never heard anybody before complaining about the name nor anybody saying that it brought serious problem. i know a lot of friends, arabic or not enjoying the show and proud of their artistic heritage.

youre the only one complaining and your profile says youre canadian....

There are 22 Arab countries that a percentage of their population are not from the Arab ethnic, yet they have the nationality of an Arabic country and they refer to themselves as Arabs.

Arabic is no longer an ethnic for many of us, it can refer to someone who either speak Arabic or have the nationality of an Arabic country.

for example my family is from Iranian roots but no one refer to us as Persians! we've been here for three generations and we refer to ourselves as Arabs, because we speak Arabic and lived in an Arabic country for over 80 years.

arabs got talent include greeks, armans, phonecians, sharkas, barbar and so on people of different origin but live in the 22 arab countries, but if you got some hate which seal your eyes then you will see things how you like

I don't understand what you're try to debate here. As I elaborated earlier, the art genre that's presented is Arabic

It has nothing to do with race or nationality

Many people doesn't know that one of the main founders of gulf region music , is a Jew. Saleh al kuwaiti , is an Iraqi jew who migrate to Israel later in his life have always been refered to as Arab singer and producer

Not many watch that show anyway. As " the world" is watching Arabs making a revolution :)

Eliashamzo,

America's got talent includes Arabs, Caucasians, Chinese, Latinos... no race feels excluded, they are all Americans.

Again, imagine a non-Arab living in the target countries? Don’t you think the title excludes them?

Now its out and you know how the world thinks about this show's title.

I am out of here.

:)

And how they will represent their country when they enter to the so called " World Got Talent"?

So, if Lebanese will win on Arab Got talent it means he will represent Egypt, Saudi, Qatar, GCC, etc as well? because they're arab countries?

Unlike us we have Philippines Got Talent, British Got Talent, America's Got Talent...for sure we are going to represent our country once we enter to that reality show.

Like what's happening on olympics, FIFA...there's no such thing as ARAB Team...you are representing your country, right?

genesis ,

Sorry, I dint know that I could not express my opinion here which is shared by millions!

Apologies for daring to say what I think in your territory!

By Nic• 9 Feb 2011 11:53
Nic

one_shot,

You didn’t understand that a Nationality includes all its citizens, regardless their race.

When you specify a race, you are excluding the others that are not from that ethnic background.

Judging for the lack of understanding this minor issue here, it doesn’t surprise me that who ever gave this title to the program dint get it either!

By genesis• 9 Feb 2011 11:51
genesis

Again spare us your prejudice !

It's reference to the genre

Over the years , there were many Armenians , Persians and even Jews performers who were recognized as Arab artists

Regardless of their ethnicity

Nic .

Also the other shows , is including only the citizens of those countries , and excluding foreigners also .

and simple reason my friend , the spoken language in this show is Arabic so others wouldn’t be able to coop with that .

I respect your point of view , but things are more simple then that .. trust me .

Btw ( Do you work in marine cranes )

Genesis,

Ask non-arabs who live in an arab country how included they feel in this title?

for me, I couldnt care less, its just racial, that's all.

Although Im not fan of Arabic remake of reality tv, the reason it's not a nationality orianted. Because the Arabic music is common for all Arab speakers. MBC is a pan Arab setlllite network that is not limited to certain nationality , although it's owned by Saudis.

lolzzz

please don't argue in this because i can't see

British got talent

American Got talent..why they didn't make it for every state?

French got talent.

they make it like this because of two reasons.

1- we consider ourselves as one nation

2- it is new show to the arabs and they were not expecting a lot of participation so they made as arabs.

By Nic• 9 Feb 2011 11:31
Nic

Eliashamzo,

Can’t you distinguish a nationality from an ethnic group (race)?

All those programs, you listed include all citizens of those countries (no race is excluded).

On the other hand, this "Arabs got talent" is excluding anybody that is not an Arab, regardless if he is a citizen of the aimed countries!

Can you understand the difference?

And can you now see why there is a bit of stupidity or racism in this title?!

If not, imagine how non-Arab citizens of the targeted countries are feeling!

Chevydjak ..

as i said before , MBC bought the rights of this show .

and its not a local channel .. so wouldnt be suitable to make a show for every country ..

Nic ..

britain's got talent show

america's got talent show

canada's got talent show

does title hints racial segregation or stupidity .

its a worldwide show , lets be real in our vision ..

It is anything like the Arabic music I have heard, it will be 10 people singing 'Habeeeeeeeeeee-beeeeeeeeeeee' for 3 minutes each.

By eliashamzo• 9 Feb 2011 11:22
eliashamzo

Nic ..

Simply because MBC is not a local channel . so its better to have show attract all the arab contries viewers . and its a fair chance for all the people .

The last winner could never shake the tag of winning this talent show, sadly.

He was called 'Lawrence of Arabia' forever :-(

eliashamzo,

how about the non-arabs that live in those countries? are they excluded?

the title hints racial segregation or stupidity or a bit of both!

By one_shot• 9 Feb 2011 11:17

he is confused because we the arabs are all talent

By Nic• 9 Feb 2011 11:17

Why an ethnic group and not a nationality?

Imagine a program called "Caucasians have talent" or "Blacks have talent"... silly isnt it?!

By eliashamzo• 9 Feb 2011 11:17

Brite , same program as britain's got talent .
