The canine nose is normally cool and moist, but not always wet. It has no sweat glands; the moisture is caused by the mucus lining. Incidentally, do not believe the folklore that the wetness of a dog's nose is an indication of the dog's health. A dog's nose can be wet, moist or dry at any given time
There are two reasons dogs have cold wet noses. One is to help keep them cool. When water evaporates, the place that it left gets cooler. Lick the end of one of your fingers, then wave your hand in the air. You will notice that the wet finger feels cool as the water leaves it. When a dog gets hot, he pants so water evaporates from his mouth and his nose to keep him cool.
The other reason for the wet nose is that wet things pick up small objects well. Just as a wet cloth picks up dust better than a dry one, a wet nose collects more of the tiny droplets of good-smelling chemicals from the air - and dogs love to check out different smells.

dogs wet noses are an indication of their well being.
If their noses are dry it means there may be something wrong.
