A 23-year-old man tests positive for MERS virus in Qatar
A 23-year-old resident has been tested positive for Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus (MERS-CoV), reported the Qatar Tribune. This was the third confirmed case in Qatar this year.
The patient has been admitted to Hamad General Hospital and his condition is stated to be stable.
In a statement, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said the patient is receiving necessary medical care at the isolation ward according to the national protocol of the infection prevention and control.
The statement said the patient was not in contact with a confirmed case and does not suffer from chronic diseases.
He was admitted to Hamad General Hospital after he developed fever, cough, runny nose and backache.
The ministry said Health Protection and CDC hotlines ” 66740948 & 66740951 ” are accessible round the clock to respond to any enquiry related to infectious diseases.
