What I Wont Miss

I'm about to leave the UK in 4 weeks having got a job in Qatar in Jan.. I can honestly say i cannot wait to get the hell outta the UK.

I have read alot of posts on QL about how bad things can be in Doha/Qatar.. But, being a Brit from Manchester i can honestly say the UK is shat!!

Bad weather, high taxes (ON EVERYTHING),Economy completely fooked, country is being run by clowns, Can't open the paper or watch the news without seeing some poor guy been killed by a gang of youths not even old enough to start shaving!

Can't get an appointment at the docs, no dentists ever available, can't even send a bleeding letter lately what with the mail being on strike!

And the worst thing..Moaning Brits who complain about everythin!! LOL.. (unlike me!) I've served many yrs in the British Military and i have seen enough to know when things are getting bad! I am very optomistic about coming to Qatar and meeting new people who enjoy life and make the most of it!

See you all soon!!

Flanastu and your left testicle

You could leave anytime to London, after I stitch you a kangaroo pouch,I know that you want an extra pouch for carrying what ever is left of your marbles....

No way snessy, with the skewed sex ratio here and the low female population, women are the first class citizen here ;)

It's a secret ok, don't tell this to any other woman ;)

I just love cold weather, back home I would always spend the weekends in the hills nearby so moan about the heat here the most :(

You're right Sandeep, London is great and will always be home for me. It's nice to live in another country though, the weather is great and you get to meet people you wouldn't necessarily meet or associate with back in the UK. Living in Qatar is still a novelty to me, I'll be moaning again when I come back there and am reminded as a woman I'm a second class citizen :-)

I'm a newbie (3 months) to Qatar too Fitnesspro. I absolutely love it and find the people really friendly. I've come home to the UK for a couple of months and I haven't stopped moaning since I've got back. I can't wait to go back in January...

You are going to absolutely love it here with that attitude. All the very best to you, enjoy feeling safe and not ripped off everytime you leave the house. 4 years on, I still feel 100% happier here than in Dorset.

Your positive writing and attitude towards challenges is contagious. Don't mention to much Iraq around here, you might get some nasty replies from some blind camel rider.

WELCOME TO Qatar from this mutant!

Mintus, you forgot to mention that while old men aren't being killed by gangs of youths, this place does have one of the highest rates of death by traffic accident in the world (wait till he experiences his first land cruiser baralling down on him at 180 kms an hour in the break down lane!)

But here's some reading for you FitnessPro, hope you're married http://www.medicinehatnews.com/content/view/164122/71/ :)

FitnessPro - pros & cons in both countries. I like Qatar, mainly for the weather and the mix of people you get to meet. UK will always be home though.

Arien - UK on the whole isn't so bad, but Manchester is. Hubby tried to get me to move there, no way!

Welcome to Qatar my friend!

In Qatar, lots of people complain about everything. Assuming they could shape Qatar into a perfect UTOPIA . Yet, is not flowers and green grass all the time.

PS

I thought England was a nice place to live. Given your personal reasons, I understand, why the Queen never smiles!

every place has it's own problems mate, come here live a few months & i assure you, there will be things you miss, off the top of my head, you will miss being in your own country 'cos wherever one is,home is always home & this place ain't home...there's no utopia,it's just what each person is willing to deal with, there won't be the above mentioned issues to deal with, that's for sure, but there will be others...good luck on your move!!!...
