Leaving Qatar but I have credit cards

Hi guys,

So mine is pretty straight forward, I bank with Doha Bank, I have 2 credit cards, a lulu card and a dream card, the credit limit for both cards combined is QR6000.

Now, I am about to leave, I do not have enough money to pay the bank in order to close these cards however with my final settlement I will be able to do so, so my QUESTION is:

'will the bank block my account to the amount of 6000 only'? And will I be able to get the rest or only after 45 days?

Hold on, don't pay any money now and let them block full QR 6,000 from your final settlement amount. Even you borrow money and pay now, they will still block the full credit limit amount from your bank account once they receive final settlement amount as a guarantee for 45 days.

I don't know about Doha bank, but most of the banks in Qatar are doing the same and hence you need to pay and cancel the credit cards at least 45 days before leaving Qatar for good or take a risk of leaving this amount in Qatar while travelling and take this money from out of country after 45 days.

Better you manage to pay your dues by getting some personal loan from your friends or relatives. Holding or arranging money through your settlement will be difficult and may delay the process.
