Notable decline in road congestion level in Qatar, says report
There has been a significant decrease in traffic congestion on the country’s roads, owing to the completion of certain key projects completed by Asghal.
According to Qatar Traffic Report (QTR) issued by Qatar Mobility Innovations Centre (QMIC), time spent by commuters on the roads during traffic jams has fallen by 10 percent from 109 hours in 2016 to 98 hours in 2018, reported Gulf Times.
This speaks volumes for the success of the road projects managed by Ashghal that have improved traffic flow, Dr Adnan Abu Dayya, CEO of QMIC said.
“We expect the commuters’ traffic behavior to keep improving as key ongoing road projects will be completed in 2019. And add to that the fact that Doha Metro will start operations in the next 1-2 years,” he mentioned.

The major congested roads in Doha were C, D, E Ring roads, Al Forousiya Street, Ahmed Bin Ali Street, Al Bustan Street (Musaimeer), Abdulrahman Bin Jassim Street, according to Qatar Tribune.
Over 1.5bn records of data, covering major road segments in Qatar, were collected by Qmic’s ‘Masarak’ platform to prepare the QTR for 2018.
In the assessment process, QTR used the Masarak Congestion Index (indicates average reduction in speed due to congestion) and the Travel Time Index (indicates the increase in travel time due to congestion).
The report is said to be the only one of its kind to analyze data acquired from multiple sources and benchmarked against an existing bank of information gathered over several years.
“We expect traffic behaviour to keep improving as key ongoing road projects are completed in 2019 and the Doha metro starts operation in the next 1-2 years,” Abu Dayya is quoted to have said by The Peninsula.
The detailed report that features a scorecard that can be accessed by different national and private entities to learn about mobility behavior in Qatar. It will be particularly important for stakeholders in the fields of transportation, road safety, smart cities and urban planning.
The report finds that February, March, and November 2018 were the most congested months in the year with a congestion index of 28.8%.
The highest congestion period during the workdays is the evening peak (around 6-7pm) when the average congestion index is 33.8%.
In the morning peak hours of workdays, Monday had the highest congestion index of 33% and Thursdays had the lowest congestion index of 31%.
QTR is one of the key outputs of the Masarak System, which was fully developed and deployed by Qmic. Masarak represents a comprehensive platform and integrated suite of services serving the areas of Intelligent Transport, Road Safety, and Smart Logistics/Telematics.

I am sure you are basing your comments on the experience your husband has had with you. I saw a person the other day banging his head on the lamp post near you house in Wakra. I asked him why and he told me he does not want to go home. Now understand who he was. Poor soul!
Hahahaha.........very funny
Sohail, I have inside info. There are husbands who don't want to help their wives for kitchen works, like cutting onions , ginger and vegs etc. So they drive slow purposely. Some husbands simply avoid being with their wives so they try to remain a few minutes extra outside of the home.
Some are afraid of scolding from the wife for the previous day's mistake. This is a true situation. Believe me.

Molten!! Read this line > The highest congestion period during the workdays is the evening peak (around 6-7pm)...now review your sensible comment :-D
Most people just roam around due to bad planning and bad advise of their contacts.
Some escape from home, they are afraid to go home, some escape from the office and spend time in the traffic on the road by choice .......
