Doha tiger escaped while en route to a Malayalam film shoot!
Just a few days after an escaped tiger on Qatar's streets took social media by storm, more details have emerged about the circumstances leading to the incident.
Vernacular daily Malayala Manorama reported on Monday that the tiger escaped while being transported to the set of Malayalam movie ‘Marubhoomiyile Aana’ (Elephant in the desert).
The VK Prakash-directed film features popular actor Biju Menon in the lead role.
According to the daily, the tiger had been hired to shoot the hero’s introduction scene. The character was supposed to hold the animal by a chain while exiting his 4x4 vehicle.
The tiger was being transported to the shooting site in Umm Salal in a covered vehicle. But all hell broke loose when it escaped after the cage’s door accidentally opened.
Thankfully, the tiger’s trainers, who had been following closely in another vehicle, were able to take immediate control of the situation.
The film’s crew, unaware of the excitement created after the video went viral, completed the shoot and returned home.
But local event managers, who had hired the animal, were apprehended. It is understood that one of them paid a hefty fine and was released.
Live footage and pictures, shot by motorsists on cellphone cameras, had become popular on the internet, under the hash tag #DohaTiger.
Wild animals as pets.Keeping a wild animal as a "pet" is both unsafe and illegal.

Officially the offenders have been prosecuted.
I assume this means that no one of any importance will be prosecuted
You can fool some people some of the time. You can even fool some people all of the time. But you cannot fool all people all of the time. Nice cover-up story that too after so many days. Can also be incorporated in the story line.
They (the cages) do this in Qatar. Just pray hard enough and they will open.
Love the line about the cage accidentally opening :0)
These event managers should be deported back to UK...
Is it April 1st today ?
These malyalis I tell you
Really, this is the best story that they can come with on this tiger case... all lies to delude from the truth. Tiger must be owned by someone high up in the chain for such story to stick!
Ani-chy: Its an Indian movie what do you expect?
Tiger without chain exiting the cave... Hero exiting his 4x4...
just imagine...
ignore the remainder of this article, the only thing that I think horrible is "The character was supposed to hold the animal by a chain while exiting his 4x4 vehicle"....c'mon man, it's a Bengal Tiger, it deserves more respect than that, and I don't understand what fun is it showing a "hero holding tiger by chain"...humans can think better than that..can't they??
The "local event managers" have once again shown that bloody amateurs are doing "business" in Qatar. May God protect us from these idiots!
