Info about residential places in Qatar

hello,

We are a family of four, currently living in the UAE. We will be moving to Qatar in a couple of months. I am trying to decide whether I should ship my furniture and electronics from here. From what I have learnt, most of the residential places available for rent are furnished. Is that true?

would u recommend shipping my stuff?

Any useful feedback/advice will be greatly appreciated.

Can anyone give me a realistic estimate of how much time it will take to reach c ring road from Wakra during office hours.

Well said ... The key is to say enough much earlier, rather than waiting fro the limit ... However, we are human and we persevere and suffer..

I did, but i did not get the courage to resign , until a limit was reached and i did it.

redelmo: Valid points.... However, most are still willing to come here.. As you yourself said - you spent six years under such conditions

8) You are just a slave , they classify you by a profession , and they put a restriction , so you are unable to bring your family, hence a minimum of 10k salary is required, thus proving my point of cost of living being high

No I had no issue, I willingfully resigned on my own , after being in qatar with the same company for 6 years .

Here is what i noticed about Qatar:

1) Qataris will treat their own people better than others.Example,Hamad hospital , qatari's are first priority. I myself watched the emergency section with all these labor workers in pain and dehydrated and sick , and if a Qatari comes in,they immediately go in.

2) Qatar is extermely hot and the water for showering is salty damages your hair and the sun damages your skin

3) Qatar is extremely expensive, they know they are paying high salaries,so they need to take it back , so you dont surpass qataris ,so forexample rent is around 4000 USD per month? In the US , you can get a mortage and pay 1500 USD per month and get a whole house ,we are paying this 4000 USD and it goes to the garbage .

4) Food is expensive,i just bought groceries here , filled a whole cart, with everything includingmeat and chicken ,paid 750 QAR only , there its over 1500 QAR

5) Entertainment ? What kind of entertainment is there? Malls, another way to suck your money in

6) Clothes is expensive.

7) They claimits 0% tax , but with the cost of living , tax is there indirectly.

From what I can recall, redelmo had major issues with his employer and had to leave the country - so his experience is different.. and perhaps he's bitter also ...

absolute rubbish redelmo. Qatar is a very nice and friendly place. Never had an issue before. Qataris have always treated me with respect. Not sure what you are doing wrong

Qatar is too expensive ,and quality of education isn't that great , and rent is 14,000 - 18,000 if you want a villa , and the weather is too hot , and Qataris are arrogant and stuck up , and everything is expensive ,unless you are coming here to save money , you wont be able to , unless your salary is high .Qataris wont treat you with respect , and they will discriminate against you if you are not of their kind.

Thanks. I think I will do that then.

I was looking at places in Al Wakra. Is it a nice area with respect to facilities etc and daily commute to c ring road.

You can get both furnished and unfurnished ..

Since you are in the UAE, probably better to bring the stuff with you
