More than half of adults in Qatar get both doses of COVID-19 vaccine
As Qatar’s National COVID-19 Vaccination Program moves ahead in full gear, more than half of the country’s total population (16 years and above) has received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
According to the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), 67.3 percent of people aged 16 and above have gotten at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine while 50.7 percent have been fully vaccinated (with both doses).
Yesterday’s update also revealed that new cases amongst the community went below 100 in the past 24 hours.
The Ministry data also shows that since the start of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Program, a total of 2,716,670 vaccine doses have been given to those eligible to receive the vaccine in Qatar. Among these, 1,561,481 people have received at least one dose and 1,155,189 both doses.
According to the most recent update, 93.9 percent of people above 60 (the most vulnerable population group) received at least one dose, while 86.9 percent have gotten both doses.
As for people above 40, at least 86.3 percent have received at least one dose and 73.9 percent got both doses.
All details regarding the vaccination program in Qatar are available here.
Qatar continues to fight the COVID-19 pandemic with all its might as it runs the largest-ever vaccination campaign in its history.
With the progress of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Program, Qatar is ranked among the top ten countries in the world, in view of its population, and has one of the lowest death rates globally.
This is owed to the country’s emphasis on high quality and excellence in its health care system.
Recently, Qatar's Minister of Public Health Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari was awarded The Woman Health Leader of The Year 2021 prize by the Arab Hospitals Federation in recognition of her role in managing the COVID-19 crisis.
