Nine government employees face criminal prosecution over attendance, wage fraud
Qatar’s Public Prosecutor has referred nine government employees to the Criminal Court for being out of office during work hours and manipulating their attendance.
The Public Prosecution initiated investigations against the defendants who were previously arrested in coordination with the Audit Bureau.
They were found to have manipulated their hours of attendance to show they were in the office while physically outside their workplace. They also received wages for hours that were not due to them, violating their employer's laws and regulations.
Investigations revealed that one of them recorded the entry and exit times from their workplace using the employment card of each of the others accused.
In its statement, the Prosecution added that the defendants have committed crimes of appropriating public funds and forging and using official documents, which constitute felonies punishable by imprisonment and a fine.
