20 percent of companies violate labour laws
About 80 percent of the companies are abiding by the Labour law and the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs geared up to make those left behind comply with the law, a senior ministry official has said.
“About 80 percent of the companies abide by the provisions of the labour law and the remaining (20 percent) might be violating the law because they are not aware of the rules,” said Khalid Al Ghanam, Head of the Work Inspection Department at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
He was speaking at an event for expatriate workers held here yesterday by the ministry to mark the World Day for Safety and Health at Work.
Most of those companies running behind are ready to rectify their errors after warnings are issued by the ministry.
The inspection team makes regular and surprise inspections to the companies and labor camps. The erring companies are caught and penalised in a bid to secure the health and safety of the workers.
The trained inspectors visit the worksites and facilities of the company to ensure the occupational health and safety of the works, he added.

The inspection team does not conduct enough regular inspections to companies and/or labour camps to ensure compliance with the 'Labour Law". Everywhere this law is infringed and no enforcement actions are taken. Labour expacts are abused and forced to work 12-16 hours a day, with no day of rest as required by law, and their employers do not feel any threat since these poor people is afraid to report these abuses because the employer will expel them if report is filed.
I think the companies must abide by and follow all the rules and regulations of Labor Laws. The companies also provide health and safety facilities to their employees in order to have a pleasant and friendly work force.
Every thing is Fake. Qatar Government is not checking the all companies properly..
My company is one of them :((( where to report abt such #u(k|ng managers ??? :(((
just a suggestion. why not get the company to fill up a form where they have to tick mark that they have understood the rules & responsibility towards the health & safety of the workers prior to renewing the license by the municipality?
