4,900 fake tyres seized, showroom and warehouses shut down
Inspectors from the Ministry of Economy and Commerce seized 4,900 counterfeited car tyres in the Industrial Area, reported The Peninsula.
As part of its ongoing intensive inspection campaign, the ministry closed down the showroom and warehouses of the erring entity for one month for storing and selling expired products.
The one-month administrative closure of a showroom, located in Salwa Street, in addition to a number of warehouses owned by a well-known commercial agent in the Industrial area came over the storage and sale of expired tires.
The closures comes as a part of inspection campaigns carried out by the ministry in an effort to monitor markets and commercial activity in the State of Qatar.
The law prohibits the sale, display and promotion of counterfeit and fraudulent products and the decision of closure is published on the ministry’s website as well as two daily newspapers at the offending store’s own expense in line with article (3) of law no (8) on consumer protection.

Cream Tease: we need to know the full story but must tread carefully
I am Tyred of all this.
So were the tyres counterfeit or were they out of date ?
I always chose tires from China. I can be sure at least that they aren't originals.
Here is the name of the violator: Auto Future Tech, part of the Al Fardan Group, with sole distribution rights for Continental tires in Qatar.
@britexpat YokoRama was too funny hahahahaha.
Do we know how far back these scams go ?
The company needs to be named
WT, There is a set procedure for each & everything , then comes the priorities .......... Why are you so upset if you are not the one working at the tyre store ? ..................
They will get a replacement, of course! Or a compensation in form of cash.
What happens to those who have already bought fake tyres
Fake Tyres seized Yay! Now can we go after the sponsor, who has been ok to sell this in the market or that's not possible?
To me it sounds like: look how good we are. Our inspectors are state-of-the-art. But, sorry, we can't tell you who the culprits are. Self-praise I would call this. Vanity!
"a showroom, located in Salwa Street, a warehouse owned by a well-known commercial agent" ???????
The information is useless for the customer if they don't say who violated the rules!
I don't know why they are concerned now? It was okay for the past fifty years!
