Al Khor Park provides a great get-away option during holidays
The newly opened Al Khor Park provided a memorable get-away for those who wished to spend their Eid Al Fitr holidays away from busy city life, reported Qatar Tribune.
Young and old, a majority of them first-time visitors, thronged the park which houses a number of wildlife including zebras, gazelles, different kinds of deer, ostriches and other domestic animals like donkeys and sheep, in addition to a variety of birds.
The park was also a popular hot-spot for families as it provides a wonderful play area for children. The play area features a number of swings and slides, a waterfall, a miniature golf course, basketball court, amphitheater, skating area and a museum, giving children the chance to take part in their favourite games.
The park also boasts of sprawling green areas with many trees, which give the visitors a feeling of being in the nature's lap.
Talking to Qatar Tribune during the Eid festivities, Shakir, an Indian who has been in Qatar for five years, said the visit was his first to the park.
"We’ve been hearing so much about the park and so we thought it would be good to spend one of the Eid days with family and friends here. It’s such an amazing place to be. My kids have got a chance to see zebra for the first time," he said.
Eslam, an Egyptian expatriate, said his kids felt exicted feeding the ostriches in the park.
"I’m happy that we brought them here. This visit has made their Eid holidays a memorable one. I promised to bring them here when we heard that the park was opened," he said.
A number of kids were seen posing as their families took their photos at the tracks of the toy train in the park.
