The special occasion of Qatar National Day (QND) is usually a public holiday in Qatar.

However, as custom, if it falls on a weekend, an official holiday is given on either the Thursday preceding it or on a Sunday following it.

Since this year's QND will be on a Friday, the Amiri Diwan has announced that Thursday, December 17, 2020, will be an official holiday on account of QND.

According to the announcement, "employees will rejoin their work on Sunday, December 20, 2020."

In a related context, the Organizing Committee of Qatar National Day today announced that the National Day Parade at the Corniche will be by invite only.

The attendees will include families of healthcare workers and other entities participating in the parade.

The parade will be held in line with all necessary precautionary and preventive measures to ensure the health and safety of all community members.
