Ashghal spends QR13.7bn on infrastructure development in 2015
The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) spent QR13.727bn for infrastructure development in the period between April to December 2015. This is about 86.34% of the budget allocated for projects.
The authority had spent slightly more than QR15bn in the 2014-15 fiscal year.
Ashghal President Nasser bin Ali Al Mawlawi said infrastructure remains a high priority on the economic agenda of the state. It was a landmark year for the authority as it was the start for many of the large infrastructure projects that will contribute to achieving the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
He said 2015 saw the inauguration of three main infrastructure projects F-Ring Road, East Industrial Road and Al Huwaila Road.
The authority also inaugurated the roads surrounding the new Qatar National Museum.
In the education sector, the authority built 23 schools in 2014-15. It also signed a QR3bn contract to build another 20 schools in the coming year.
In the health sector, it built three health centres in Al Karaana, Al Ghuwairiyah and in Leabaib.
He said Ashghal will continue its work on developing the infrastructure and praised the high budget allocated to the authority to complete its work.
