Baladiya shut down 23 eateries in Qatar last month
The drive to protect consumer rights and to ensure that restaurants serve quality food to its customers is still very much on in Qatar.
In fact, last month alone the Doha Municipality shut down around 23 outlets for breaching the ministry rules and health standards set by the State.
According to the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning (MMUP)’s recent Facebook post, the Health Monitoring Section at the municipality conducted 1,698 inspection campaign against food outlets, laundries and salons for the month of April.
Also, The Peninsula further reports that 11,925 tons of foodstuff, including vegetables, fruits and fish, of which 87 tons of vegetable, 69 tons of fruits, 17 tons of meat and five tons of fish were found unfit for human consumption and were duly destroyed.
While the public doubtlessly appreciates the efforts and attempts taken by the State to protect its people, it’s still surprising to see the number of violations in the country after so many raids and inspections.
