Doha plays role of matchmaker to perfection as German globetrotters find true love
Qatar seems to be literally attracting lots of love, from all across the globe, in recent times.
It was not too long ago that an Indian couple and their families chose Doha to immortalise their wedding ceremony. And now comes the story of a globetrotting German couple who chose Doha as a perfect spot for professing their love for each other.
German Christopher Giesbrecht, who travelled to more than 66 countries together with compatriot Christina Hubsch over the last decade, chose Doha to finally propose marriage to her, reported Qatar Tribune.
In Doha, Christopher found the perfect setting and venue to propose to Christina, and she said yes. The couple is expected to tie the knot once they are back to Germany.
“Although I was sure Christopher would propose to me somewhere on the way, I hadn’t imagined it could take place in Doha during our six-day stay. It came as a pleasant surprise when he finally made the proposal. The surge of emotion made me speechless for a moment,” an excited Christina told Qatar Tribune.
“Each trip made us more comfortable with each other and brought us closer. But we never thought of getting married and starting our life together in the early years of our travel,” said Christopher.
On why he chose Doha to propose to his fellow traveller, Giesbrecht said: “Until the announcement of Qatar hosting 2022 World Cup, I knew it only as an oil-rich Gulf country. But, the announcement made me curious about Qatar. My curiosity got heightened when my brother Robin Giesbrecht told me about the special features of Qatar following his recent visit and asked me to see the country for myself.”
“After coming here, I realised that my brother wasn’t wrong. Qatar is an awesome country where the Arab tradition meets modernity. It has so many other attractions as well. I found in Doha an ideal place to make this important decision of my life,” he added.
The German couple started travelling together in 2009 after their post-graduation from the University of Applied Sciences in Bielefeld, Germany. In between their busy travel schedules, the couple finds time to attend to their jobs, business and meet their family members.
The staff of Sharq Village & Spa arranged a special dining experience at the beach-front gazebo, specially decorated and finely arranged to provide a perfect setting for the once-in-a-lifetime event for the couple.
“We are yet to give this great news concerning to our parents. We’re planning a wedding in our hometown in Germany, maybe in August this year. We’ll be inviting a number of people whom we made friends with during our journeys to our wedding,” said Christopher.
We need to be careful for the rules etc ......... yes .......... congrats ................... as well .....................
Oops, hope they've left Qatar already, 'cause when police will read this article, they will be arrested for immodesty.
