GCC motorist fined in road crash case
A Doha Criminal Court has fined a GCC citizen QR 20,000 and ordered the suspension of her driving licence for two months for causing injuries to four persons travelling in another car, including the one driving it.
The court also ordered her to pay a sum of QR 86,000, in collaboration with the insurance company concerned, as compensation for one of the injured as the accident left him with 43% disability, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported.
Investigation showed that the woman was driving recklessly, due to which she lost control over the vehicle and it swerved to the other side of the road, hitting another car.
It also hit an advertisement board in the process. The person driving the other car sustained injuries in the accident along with three other occupants. [Gulf Times]
Would the court order a harsher punishment if it WASN'T a GCC citizen?
Justice can be very strange.. The person is didabled and all he/she gets is 86000 Riyals..Wonder what the payout would have been if she had been injured ?
should she not be in jail or atleast heavy fines which paid to injured person. 43% disability means the guy is jobless now
