Hamad International Airport becomes the world’s sixth ‘5-Star Airport’
The next time you walk through the Hamad International Airport (HIA), hold your head high as you’re moving through only the world’s sixth ‘five star airport.’
The iconic HIA became the first airport in the Middle East to be accorded the award by Skytrax and joined an elite group of similar facilities around the world, reported Gulf Times.
The airports at Singapore, Seoul, Hong Kong, Tokyo-Haneda and Munich are the only other facilities to have obtained the five-star rating.
The 5-Star Airport rating is awarded to airports achieving the highest, overall quality performance in terms of facilities for customers and quality airport staff service.
Airport quality ranking covers front-line areas for departures, arrival and transfer, including airport facilities, customer service, security, immigration, shop outlets and food and beverage facilities.
HIA had achieved a number of milestones last year, including introduction of the iBeacon enabled mobile app, ‘Smart Airport’ features, dual passenger train shuttle and opening of multiple duty free stores.
When was the last time you were at the HIA? What were your experiences there?
