Haroun, Ashraf win gold medals for Qatar, Tosin settles for silver in men’s 100M
400M runner Abdalelah Haroun and hammer thrower Ashraf Amjad Elsaify won gold medals for Qatar at the 2018 Asian Games with authoritative performances.
Young Tosin Ogunode finished as the second fastest man in Asia with a silver-medal performance in the 100M.
Haroun sprinted to the gold medal with an authoritative display. He destroyed the field at the GBK Main Stadium to win gold in 44.89sec.
India’s Muhammad Anas Yahiya (45.69) and Bahrain’s Ali Khamis (45.70) finished second and third respectively.

Ashraf threw 2.72M more than his nearest rival to make the gold medal his. While Tajikistan’s Dilshod Nazarov finished second with a 74.16 heave, Kazakhstan’s Sukhrob Khodjaev (74.06) was third.

Tosin Ogunode, younger brother of successful Qatari sprinter Femi, was second in the men’s blue riband event.
He crossed the finish line in a time of 10sec, which was .08sec slower than China’s Su Bingtian.

The Chinese sprinter set a new Asian Games record en route to the title win. Japanese sprinter Ryota Yamagata, who also finished in 10sec, was third on photo finish.
