Health card to be integrated with ID for expats and citizens
Many expatriate workers who don’t have health cards will benefit from the government’s plan to integrate the health card with the Qatari identity card, the Minister of Pubic Health HE Abdullah bin Khalid Al Qahtani has said.
Speaking at an interactive session on Monday to discuss achievements of the National Health Strategy (NHS) 2011-2016, the Minister said work is progressing on three hospitals and several health centres meant exclusively for expatriate labourers.
In the past, many single workers had been facing difficulties in accessing hospitals and health centres because they didn’t have a health card. There is a new system which will incorporate health card with the ID card, the Qatar News Agency quoted the Minister as saying.
The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) had earlier said that citizens and expatriates will be able to avail of the national health insurance scheme, Seha, through their Qatari ID card. Seha is currently is in its second phase covering all citizens.
What do you think about the new system?

"the Minister of Pubic Health HE Abdullah bin Khalid Al Qahtani" LOL....
Hasnt anyone done a proof reading for this article?? Public has been spelt "Pubic"!!!! This is embarassing.
Ministry should monitor the hospital management and staffs behaviour toward the low income ( money wise ) workers. During his research my friend has observed the staffs in some healthcare in Industrial area , talking rude and not listening to them professionally and shout on them to go out etc..
I stay in Al Khor and my health card is somewhere in doha (Center 21).
Good i have medical insurance :)
But this makes problem for Family visiting as when you need to do Medical for stay over 1 month these centers refuse and ask to go to specified center on card.
When you visit Health Centers they ask for Health card and check the back of it for Center number. If they find the number is different than what you are visiting then they refuse to give treatment and ask to go to the Center specified on card.
Wonder how it would be after integrating the QID
Thanks to HE Abdullah bin Khalid Al Qahtani
Aside from that...The ministry should put up more health centers so that they can accommodate more patients from the labor sector. Its very frustrating when you go to health center only to find out that the priority number is finished. and they will just tell you to comeback tomorrow. watodo!?
Great move!
