HH The Amir has been re-elected as a member of International Olympic Committee
HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has been re-elected as a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The election took place during the IOC session in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on the sidelines of the ongoing Youth Olympic Games, reported Gulf Times.

HH The Amir, who has been an IOC member since 2002, took part in the meetings of the 33rd session of the IOC. The session dealt with several topics related to the development of sports and the Olympic movement at the global level, according to The Peninsula.
HH the Amir, as well as Qatar Olympic Committee President HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, met with and had a meeting with IOC President Dr Thomas Bach.

It pertained to the ongoing cooperation between Qatar and the IOC and the means of enhancing and developing them.
Dr Bach was all praise for Qatar’s initiatives in promoting the ideals of the Olympic movement around the world. He also made a special mention about Qatar’s great work with the Olympic Refuge Foundation, which was set up in September 2017 in cooperation with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
HH The Amir stressed Qatar’s keenness in supporting refugees around the world by providing them with safe facilities for exercising as well as practising sport, reported Qatar Tribune.
