HH The Emir takes a brave stand at the UN General Assembly
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani took a brave stand at the general debate of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly by warning against ‘selectivity’ of the Security Council in addressing world problems, particularly those relating to the use of force.
HH the Emir spoke particularly about the failure by the international community to bring about a just resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as well as lack of actions following the massacres in Syria.

He said that Israel’s continuing occupation of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip was discrimination of Palestinian rights and racial segregation.
The country called upon the Security Council to impose an international consensus on a two-state solution, including establishment of a Palestinian state along the pre-1967 lines and with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Until such a time, he said, “Arab peoples can’t accept any kind of normalisation of relations with Israel”.
He also spoke about other conflicts in the region, including in Syria, by saying “the Syrian regime deliberately dragged what had started as a peaceful uprising into violence.”
He reiterated Qatar’s support for efforts to eradicate and root out the phenomenon of terrorism, within the framework of international legitimacy.

He said Qatar’s developmental and relief contribution had reached out to more than 100 countries around the world, “and we are still coordinating with the governmental and non-governmental agencies to provide developmental and relief aid”.
Qatar, he said, supported more than 10m children around the world in addition to promoting the potentiality of 1.2m Arab youth to empower them to be active and productive in their communities.

My favorite personality.
"the failure by the international community to bring about a just resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as well as lack of actions following the massacres in Syria." Why should the international community care? Let them kill each other and the problem will be solved automatically.
Well done to the Emir.
Sadly, there are too many self interests in the U.N and it has lost its true reason for existence
