His Highness the Amir, Trump discuss regional developments

In an attempt to de-escalate tensions in the region, following the latest developments in Iraq, His Highness the Amir held a telephonic conversation with the President of the United States Donald Trump.

According to Qatar News Agency, the two leaders discussed ways “to resolve contentious issues and reduce tension” to maintain regional security and stability.

The strategic relations between the two friendly nations and ways to strengthen them further were also part of the discussions between HH the Amir and President Trump.

In a recent interview with Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed newspaper, Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani affirmed Qatar’s stance on the situation saying the country urges all parties to refrain from violence.

“The region is seeing a state of escalation that has been going on for a while. There is no doubt that what happened, whether the storming of the American embassy in Baghdad or targeting of a number of Iranian and Iraqi military leaders during the past week, is a new turn in the escalation,” HE the Minister said in the interview.

Earlier this week, HE Sheikh Mohammed had met with the Iranian President Dr Hassan Rouhani in Tehran to review the latest developments in the region and stress on the need to focus efforts on ensuring stability in the region.

Daniel: What did the US Navy warship USS Vincennes do in 1988 when it fired a missile at Iran Air Flight 655 over the Gulf blowing up the plane to bits, killing all 290 passengers on board? Was that an act of "human error"? Can your term the act as "murder?"

Who fired a missile at Malaysian Airlines Flight 17 over Ukraine in 2014 killing all 298 people on board? Was it Russian separatists? Was that act of "human error"? Could that act be termed as "murder?"

But while writing your comment you "possibly" simply forgot those two tragic incidents and focused on the "murder" committed by Iran. It was indeed human error on the part of Iran combined with sheer bad luck for the unfortunate plane to be at the wrong place at a point of extremely heightened tensions with people sitting ready to press the trigger button.

Daniel: There is an English proverb which applies aptly to the situation now prevailing in the "region":

When two elephants fight it is the grass that gets trampled.

Have the courage to to speak out against those nations who in the past have also performed such acts of "human error" deliberately, or otherwise. Look at the world with both eyes open rather than being myopic.

Iran is not the only one. It is wise not to point fingers at just one nation.

'Errors' seem to be prevalent in the region. The Iranian Government just admitted having murdered 176 people by shooting down a civilian airplane due to 'human error'.

Oh! Come on, Mr. Grammarian! Qatar has a mixed population with people from several countries and with all levels of education. Not everyone knows the language of the white people and all the rules of English grammar. I bet you, or even people from your country, don't either.

I come across many post at QL written in poor English even by people from westerner countries. There are even spelling errors in them. But then, I have a big heart and a broad mind a broad outlook and an education level to understand and overlook such errors.

As for your objection on "telephonic conversation", though the word "telephonic" is grammatically incorrect, that is how this word is being used nowadays to convey the idea. It has become the norm in both spoken and written English and has been widely accepted as the phrase "telephonic conversation" carries the idea through completely. Everything that gets spoken or written is not grammatically correct and I am sure you are aware of that.

By the way, did you check how you have spelled your pen name at this post? There is something missing in there!

Lol!
