Huge news! Citizens of 80 countries can now enter Qatar visa-free

In a major new initiative, Qatar has made entry into the country a visa-free experience for people belonging to 80 nations, reported The Peninsula.

The initiative, which is effective immediately, makes Qatar one of the most open countries in the region and is expected to boost tourism in a big way.

The countries that will benefit from the move includes the UK, USA, Canada, India, South Africa, Seychelles, Australia and New Zealand.

Citizens from the 80 countries wishing to visit Qatar will not need to apply or pay for a visa. Instead, a multi-entry waiver will be issued free-of-charge at the port of entry, upon presentation of a valid passport with a minimum validity of six months and a confirmed onward or return ticket, according to Visit Qatar.

Depending on the nationality of the visitor, the waiver will either be valid for 180 days, and allow the visitor to spend a total of 90 days in Qatar (multiple-entry); or it will be valid for 30 days and entitle the visitor to spend up to 30 days in

Qatar (multiple-entry) with the possibility of applying for an extension of the waiver for an additional 30 days.

“With 80 nationalities eligible for a free visa waiver upon arrival, Qatar is now the most open country in the region and we’re delighted to invite visitors to discover our renowned hospitality, cultural heritage and natural treasures,” said Hassan Al Ibrahim, Acting Chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority.

In November 2016, Qatar introduced a free transit visa, which allows passengers of all nationalities transiting in Qatar for a minimum of five hours to stay in Qatar for up to 96 hours (four days).

In May 2017, QTA and Qatar Airways launched +Qatar, a package which includes a free night’s stay in a five or four star hotels in Doha, alongside a complimentary transit visa.

Surprised that Pakistan was left off, especially since they contribute vastly to Qatar's Defense Department. Also, only one Arab country selected. There's an old saying, if Arab want to progress, they must 1st love Arab Children. This is not a good example!

more than 600000 Indians travel UAE every month for work , business and holidays. Qatar opens visa free for Indians ,really good news for Indians. I think more Indians will travel to Qatar . Like most of the East Asian countries made visa arrivals and easy visa for Indian travelers ( Malaysia,Indonesia,Singapore and Vietnam ) more than millions of Indians been travelling those countries . Thanks to Government of Qatar.

Qatar being an independent country is entitled to whatever decision or law her government make for the interest their country, but our own plea is that those of us whose country is not included in the list should have an easy way of procuring visiting Visa for any of our family members to spend some time with us here in Qatar because most time, owing to the requirements of our jobs here it may not be convenient for us to travel but to invite our family members over especially the married men who are not here with their wives.

Please consider this plea. bringing your wife here to spend just a month or there are about will ease the pressure on you to travel home when you are not prepared for that. Thanks

For those who are jealous of India being included in the list, Burnol will help. Just to remind India is the 3rd largest buyer of Qatari gas and 3rd largest economy in Asian Continent.

Jasmine and Molten metal. You should start reading international newspapers. China and India are the world's fastest growing economies. In India we are not getting labourers even after paying more than what they normally get a day's wage in Qatar (believe it or not). The reason why Indian labourers are coming here is because they get cheated by promise of huge wages by unscrupulous agents.

White collar workers are coming here because Qatar offer better salaries. Why Qatar offer better salaries? Simple logic. The nation wants them.

Why people are jealous about Indians?

Honest, hardworking peoples get deserved.

Qatar knows to give which nationalities are eligible.

So don't be jealous.

If Qatar is serious about opening up her economy, the government should remove the unnecessary "exit permit system". Its a draconian rule.

'' India is allowed but Bangladesh is not allowed. Qatar do you see the sweat on the bricks of your villas and high rise buildings? ''

Funny you compare both :D Seems like you are only counting on the expats in this state or you don't have any idea where these countries stand in international level

See guys ! Its the decision of QTA and QA along with MOI to chart it out and list the countries and if they haven't included few countries then they might have a valid reason for the same for the same.

Yes people from various countries contribute in building the nation and also increase its GDP but it doesn't mean they can accommodate all. Out of 195 countries just 80 are being allowed which is hardly 41%. Maybe a second list is in preparation stage.

Also they are looking for development of Tourism which will be the booster of GDP and countries economy in the near future not for job purpose.

Understand the motto behind this step rather than criticising India for being enlisted.

Hate & envy oozing out on Indians by fellow nationals :D

You can't relate India to those countries (don't want to mention the names) , technically it's far above on the list

India is allowed but Bangladesh is not allowed. Qatar do you see the sweat on the bricks of your villas and high rise buildings? Thousands of Bangladeshis worked hard to construct your country. On the other hand you are giving favor to India where Muslims are often treated as cattle!

I am sad that they have ignored nationalities which really contribute to economy of Qatar such as Finoys, Pakistanis, Sri Lankans, Nepalis and Bangladeshis..only they have been fair to India in this category. If they allow above mentioned nationalities too there may be huge number of people coming to Qatar for visiting and job purposes.

Salute Qatar. This is not a random list. You have sent a poignant message to those who betrayed you, those who ignored you and those who kept quiet when you were meted with injustice. A simple, but powerful message. Long live Qatar.
