Intensive campaign undertaken to deep clean Qatar’s beaches
The General Cleanliness Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), beaches and islands section, conducted an intensive cleaning campaign last week, Gulf Times reported.
Waste and debris were removed from a number of beaches and islands in Qatar as part of the initiative.
The campaign covered beaches such as Al Khor and Salwa as well as Al Safliyah island.
In addition, warning notices were given to remove abandoned boats at Al Wakrah beach and waste, comprising pieces of wood and discarded refrigerators, was cleared. The week's initiatives were concluded with a clean-up drive along Doha Corniche.
The general inspection unit in the Al Karana office of Al Rayyan Municipality conducted 93 inspection tours in July, which resulted in the issuance of 10 violation reports.
Besides, 11 abandoned vehicles were removed and waste was removed from 25 spots. Fines for these violations amounted to QR21,200.
Meanwhile, the technical control unit in the Al Gharafa office conducted 34 inspection tours at buildings and issued nine digging permits and 19 warning notices.

This happens every year. The idiots who litter or abandon things on the beaches should be made to clean up and be fined heavily
