Katara Cultural Village will be hosting around 43 activities to mark the National Day of the country. The events will take place from December 18 to December 19.

Several important government institutions, authorities and associations will be taking part in these activities.

The General Manager of Katara, Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti said that they will mark the great occasion of the National Day by holding events like parade, cultural and entertainment shows.

Katara will also honour the iconic Qatari singer, Mohammad Al Sai, who had first introduced the Qatari Patriotic song ‘My Beloved Qatar’.

Al-Sulaiti further added, “We will be asking one of his sons to attend, in addition to honouring the song’s musician Abdulaziz Nasser Al Obaidan and the songwriter Abdullah Al Hammadi, on December 18 at Katara Amphitheatre at 3.30pm”.

The two-day festivities will start on December 18 from 1PM and last until 10PM and continue the following day from 10AM until 10PM.

The National Day activities will include parade by the Emiri Guard, in addition to participation by the Armed Forces through 60 paratroopers.

Qatar’s largest national flag will be unfurled as part of the National Day celebrations at the Cultural Village.

Katara opens a ‘Loyalty Book’ every year to collect visitors’ signatures, and last year the book had collected 10,000 signatures.

The Childhood Cultural Center will be participating with a number of poetry competitions, in addition to displaying a small museum titled ‘Modern Qatar’ which will feature some old photographs about Qatar.

Also, a team of motorcycle riders will be providing some important tips to people about how to ride motorcycles and they will also be putting up a show as part of National Day celebrations at Katara. [The Peninsula]
