Langham Hotels in talks to open female-only hotel resort in Doha
The Langham Hospitality Group, a luxury hotels operator dating back to 1865 when The Langham London opened its doors, is eyeing a unique hotel property in Qatar.
According to reports, the luxury hotel operator is in talks with a client over the prospects of opening a women-only resort in Doha. It will also reportedly house the world’s largest spa.
Langham Hotels CEO Robert Warman elaborated on the plan.
“We’re looking at opening a new resort, possibly in Doha. We think it’s very close and that we’ve a unique opportunity to run a female-only resort with the largest spa in the world,” Arabian Business quoted him as saying.
“We think that could be a really unique positioning to bring a high level of service into what has traditionally probably not been the top tier segment.”
According to Construction Week Online, the hotel operator is also actively considering expanding further into the GCC market, with plans to build more hotels in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia and Oman.
The Hong Kong-based group is working on opening three new hotels —resort on Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah, a luxury hotel in the under-construction Lusail City in Qatar and a 279-key property in downtown Jeddah.
Langham had announced its plans to open two hotels in Doha way back in 2008, but those plans did not materialise.
The Langham Place in Lusail is understood to include 238 rooms, 90 luxury serviced residences and 56 residences and will open towards the end of 2018.
