The 275,000 square meters Crescent Park in Lusail, which adds to Qatar’s array of picturesque parks and stunning architecture, was officially inaugurated by the Minister of Municipality and Environment His Excellency Abdulla bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie yesterday.

With a unique layout, the park features different facilities including playgrounds and water games. It has waterways, bicycle and pedestrian tracks and shaded areas along the corridors, as well as public squares, seating area, forest and children's play areas, reported The Peninsula.

The park’s design embodies the desert environment and sand dunes, coupled with the style of Islamic gardens. This is mirrored in the Crescent Garden on the various flat and high-level surfaces.

The garden is fashioned with a special focus on sustainability through the use of recycled water to irrigate green areas, which coordinate with the design of a lighted irrigation system, offering an unparalleled experience to enjoy nature.

A large football field, two acrylic basketball courts, two beach volleyball courts, three acrylic tennis courts, make up the park’s diverse sports facilities, among its other offerings.

As reported by Gulf Times, the park has two large restaurants, 530 parking spaces, easy access to all garden facilities, and direct access to Lusail's tram system, linking the park directly with all areas of the city.

Commenting on the occasion, Al Subaie, said, one of the main objectives of the ministry is to protect the environment and its natural balance through comprehensive and sustainable development so future generations can reap the benefits of such efforts.

“The city of Lusail, which we are proud of as a model for sustainable cities, adds this new park to the city's facilities and services,” he said.

The minister recognized Qatari Diar for the development of excellent infrastructure and facilities in Lusail including buildings, parks, green areas and others, all of which is well aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030.

The formation of the Crescent Park brings yet another achievement for the city of Lusail that enhances the experience of residents and visitors alike, said Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, Chief Executive Officer of Qatari Diar.

Lusial city will host about 450,000 residents and visitors with a total area of 38 square kilometres, as the work concludes. The city offers a host of facilities and services such as beaches, islands, and vast spaces for recreation, parks, and area for sports activities.

Established in 2005 by the Qatar Investment Authority, Qatari Diar Real Estate Company launched its flagship project, Lusail City, the same year in December. The project garnered tremendous praise for its innovative approach to real estate, according to Qatar Tribune.

As of January 2018, Qatari Diar has a shared capital of USD 8 billion, with 60 investment projects under development or held in 24 countries around the world, combining a value of over USD 35 billion.
