Man gets 3-year jail for illegal drug trade
An Asian man got a jail sentence of three years and subsequent deportation for illicit drug trade, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported.
A Doha Criminal Court also fined the defendant a sum of QR200,000 for the same crime.
The issue was brought to the attention of the concerned authority when information reached the Drug Prevention Department of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) that the defendant used to keep marijuana and used to sell it at the Doha Industrial Area.
Accordingly, an undercover police man approached the defendant to buy from him a quantity of marijuana for QR3,000. Both parties agreed to meet at a certain place at the Industrial Area. The delivery process took place under the surveillance of hidden police patrols.
When arrested, 22 wrapped pieces of marijuana weighing 22 grams in total were found with the defendant.
A blood test of the dependent also proved that he had consumed marijuana. He also admitted owning the illicit drugs, during the police interrogations.
