Many outlets closed down after Ministry raid
The authorities of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce have fixed hawk eyes on any violations of the consumer protection law in Qatar.
Recently, the authorities have shut down a tyre shop in New Ghanim for a period of one month.
It has been found out during the Ministry officials surprise raid that the tyre shop has been selling balloon tyres which are banned in Qatar.
Balloon tyres have been considered as highly risky for, they tend to overheat at high speed and will not stop immediately when the brakes are applied, leading to numerous accidents.
Hence, the country has banned the use or the import of balloon tyres unless accompanied by a certificate of conformity with technical requirements specified in technical regulations namely GSO 51/2007, GSO 52/2007 and GSO 53/2007.
For the past month, the authorities have spotted around 130 cases of violations of the consumer protection law in the country. Most of them have been failure to display the prices of commodities and also failure to abide by promotion requirements.
The Ministry claimed that it’s going to intensify its search for such violations and urged the consumers to let the Ministry know if they come across any such violations. [Source & cover image-The Peninsula]

Ata, Corrected ............ You don't get tempted if you have control on your mind ...............
brit: i wish slicks were allowed...as long as you look out for random wet/oil patches, i feel the remote roads outside the city are great for some late night slick fun...
MM: i know you type as the thoughts flow...but think again and reconsider what you just said :-)
If we see something we may be tempted to own it ........ so closing is the right decision ........... Tue, 13.10.2015, 11.22 hrs
Next they'll tell me to take the slicks off my Pink Kia
They're banned???? Half the landcruisers in the country are running around on balloon tires...and they're banned? In any case, why ban the tires? Ban the people who decide it would be a great idea to use desert tires on tarmac...balloons are great for desert driving, seriously, why ban them? Oh well...
