Ministry ban sale of popular toy gun in stores

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has instructed retail outlets not to sell MR.K toy guns as there have been complaints about children getting burns while playing with the guns.

MEC also banned sale of gunshots (8 shot Plastic Disc Cap) used in the guns that kids consider as ammunition for the toy guns. The gunshots are known to create loud noises and sparks when fired with the guns.

This specific type of toy gun has been in the Qatar market for years now, and is quite popular among youngsters.

Ministry officials seized several guns from several shops in the country. The ministry has asked customers not to buy them as they are dangerous for children.

Shopkeepers and other retailers have also been asked not to stock up these toys. If any shopkeeper is found selling these guns, he will be punished as per the laws.

Customers can file complaints about sale on the ministry's free telephone number 8005000. [The Peninsula]

@urstrulyash it's been banned for safety reasons and not for the influence it has on kids's mind.

@Doha-Indian then what about movies? most movies show guns and gun shots. What about computer games? Internet? personally, I don't believe these toys pollute young minds. I can understand the safety reasons but not the reasons you cited. :-) (no offense meant to you and cheers mate).

Hats Off to the Ministry, continue to keep up the good work !! These sort of 'so called toys' are the reasons for polluting and corrupting the innocent minds of children.
