Ministry shuts jewellery store down for two weeks for selling counterfeit ornaments
Qatar’s Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) once again showed they will not tolerate fraud in the country when they shut down a jewellery store for two weeks for selling counterfeit jewellery, reported Gulf Times.
The shop, situated inside the Hyatt Plaza, was fined and closed down for displaying and selling counterfeit international gold jewellery brands, reported The Peninsula.
The closure came following an inspection drive organised as part of the ministry’s efforts to monitor markets and commercial activities in order to crack down on violations, price manipulation and counterfeit and substandard products.
The shop was closed in line with article (7) of law number (8) of 2008, which compels suppliers to clearly display on the product's package or label the type and nature of the item as well as other relevant data in line with the law's implementing regulations, reported Qatar Tribune.
The ministry added that a violation notice was issued against the store and was commissioned to publish the administrative closure announcement at its expense.
That's right step, indeed.
