Ministry warns eateries on food packaging
The Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning has issued a fresh warning to eating outlets on the use of packaging material for hot and cold food items and beverages.
The ministry has said in a tweet that all restaurants and cafeterias serving food and beverages must comply with technical specifications for packaging materials.
They must use food-grade plastic and paper packaging materials, including wraps, as well as plates and cups made of paper and foam.
It must be printed in red on all packaging materials that they are fit for use for hot food items and drinks. Similarly, it must be printed in blue on all packaging materials that they are fit for packaging cold food items and drinks.
The outlets have been told to comply as the ministry said it plans to launch inspections soon.
