National Day parade to be held in compliance with strict safety measures

The Security Committee for National Day Celebrations organized a press conference on December 15 to announce the security plan during the National Day parade and activities at Doha Corniche.

Brigadier Dr. Ali Khujaim Al-Adbi, director of Establishments and Authorities Security Department and Head of the Security Committee said, “the families of the health sector and the participating bodies only will be allowed to witness national parade this year through special invitations in compliance with the exceptional precautionary measures and preventive measures to ensure health and safety of all members of society. Citizens and residents can watch the national parade and the festive moments it through television channels”.

Only those who received the invite will be granted entry to the parade. All attendees must present Ehteraz Application in green status while entering and adhere to safety measures.

Attendees must stay in their seats and not move until the end of the ceremony.

The guidelines include avoiding smoking in the stands, chanting, or using live choirs and singing, and should adhere to the designated paths to the parking spaces as specified in the invitation cards.

Body temperature will be checked for all attendees upon at the entrance, attendees must wear face masks all the time, maintain social distancing, and use hand sanitizers frequently.

The head of the security committee noted that the committee is concerned with ensuring the security of the parade that starts from the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers covering the entire Corniche until the Sheraton Hotel intersection and then towards the direction of Al Fardan Tower.

Moving towards Al Barzan Tower and from there to the Theater intersection, then to the Wadi Al-Sail Fire Station intersection.

After which it heads to the Al-Mannai underpass, then to the Souq Waqif signal, to the Amiri Diwan intersection in the direction of (Fanar), then to Qatar National Bank signals, and to the General Secretariat again.

The waterfront from the Corniche will be completely closed and the public will not be allowed to enter it.

Entry is only permitted for those authorized through invitations to attend, as each invitee is given a card for car parks and seats in the galleries. The invitation card includes a barcode that determines the direction of the car’s path to the parking directly.

The Qatar Red Crescent Society’s (QRCS) teams will be present at the entrances of the gates to ensure the compliance of the attendees with health requirements.

The Organizing Committee has allocated seats for the invitees in two southern and northern platforms to the right and left of the main podium, and the total number of seats will be 2569 for the invitees only.

They are distributed as follows: Al-Bidda platform No. 1 (875) seats, Al-Bidda platform No. 2 (511), Al-Bidaa No. 3 (370), and Al-Bada No. 4 (813) seats. Parking spaces are also allocated for the guests in three locations.

Western Bidda parking lots near Qatar Bowling Center, have (792) parking spaces, and the southern Bidda parking lot between the old building of the Ministry of Interior and the platform, has (739) parking spaces, and the northern Bidda parking, has (563) lots.

Doha Metro will be operating from 2:00 pm on the National Da after all activities are over.

National Day fireworks will be displayed at Doha Corniche from 8:30 pm.  Medical units will also be there at Doha Corniche in case of any emergency.
