New top-of-the-line Gold Souq to open in the heart of Doha City soon
A new Gold Souq, which promises to be a one-stop destination for gold buyers in the country, is in the final stages of construction in the heart of Doha and will soon be open to the public, says a report in Qatar Tribune.
The Souq, which will consist of a cluster of more than 50 shops, will be a beautifully designed complex with a unique golden hue that is expected to become a landmark site in the country.
Even though Doha boasts of a Gold Souq at Al Ghanim, new infrastructure projects had pushed it into the background. Once all the shops at Souq Najada open, it is expected to become one of the most crowded areas in the city.
“Gold jewellery business has increased manifold in the last couple of years. The increasing number of Asian expatriates has fuelled the demand for gold and has made jewellery business in Doha strong. A number of shops under a single roof will create healthy competition that will ultimately benefit the customers,” manager of a jewellery shop at the new Gold Souq told Qatar Tribune.
Sales and marketing manager of an India-based jewellery group said, “As part of our ongoing expansion plan in the Gulf region, we’re looking for an ideal location. We already have attractive collections of jewellery. We’ve plans to open a special section for jewellery manufactured in Doha,” he said.
