This month, around 803 stores, restaurants, salons and food outlets were inspected by Doha Municipality for violations.

Out of the inspected facilities, 119 were found to be breeching the standards set by the government while 684 restaurants and men and women salons were in compliance with the ministry requirements.

“The municipality closed 14 violated outlets, five of them were closed on Sunday and includes restaurants and food facilities. The duration of the closure is from 10 to 20 days”, reports The Peninsula.

The violating facilities had displayed food unfit for human consumption, prepared it in poor condition, not complying to specific standards and expired licenses.

It also destroyed 64.5 tons of food, including 26 tons of vegetables, 30 tons of fruit, 2.5 tons of fish and 6 tons of meat.

Meanwhile, Al Daayen Municipality closed two food outlets - a bakery and a supermarket. The bakery was closed for 14 days and the supermarket for 30 days for trading food harmful for human consumption.

Started eating from restaurant recently and got H. pylori in not time. No wonder they closed over 100. But it is a pity to see the punishment is not very effective here.

shafqat-hayat - Sure, people here can achieve similar feet if they can see the examples of other nations, look at China also, they see Korea, Taiwan, Japan (their neighbors developing and started to implement change in their society and people's mindset. Chin still has long ways to go, but at least they are trying. Here, what do you see...10 to 20 days shut down and go back to providing shitty food...scams and cheats loitering and jumping on innocent people. Shame! let it be 200 years or even 400 years before proper justice is put in place. By that time, other countries will have advanced so much that there is no comparison.

Btw "Maafi Mushkila" was just a funny compliment.. They will kick you out once they see any major disease in you. i know a person he is not changing his job because he would be kicked out due to his Serious Hepatitis.

Zackim: Korea, Malaysia, Singapore have justice for all. they treat everyone equally. They have a long vision and plan. plus they dont hesitate to work hard. There is no concept of One Man feeding his 6 family members: Not working is a shame there.

WT, development depends on the nation and people living in the country, within 30 to 40 years, look at Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand....so many improvement. 45 Years, they had more than enough time and money to make this into one of the great cities. Instead I see so much wastage here, greed, selfness, senselessness, scams & cheats...its sad really! Greatest achievement of all the countries I have mentioned is Korea, they came out from WWII, living in mud huts and eating fermented vegetables, now they make Samsung, LG Phones, LED, Home Appliances...KIA Hyundai, building cars and ships...they have outsourced contruction company building the rail roads and building here in Qatar. Yes many things can be achieve within 45 years...where have times gone and how much wastage has been incured

Qatar is only 45 years old, zackm. Give them another 200 years and they will grow up. However, nobody will probably be living here anymore.

WT, these people are ignorant to what poor unsanitary food can do to our body. Have any one of you had cancer, eating poor quality food accelerates your chances of having cancer. Do you think the hospitals here will pay for your cancer meds when you get it...you will be amongst the lowest priority....also do you know how much it cost per year to treat any form of cancer? average USD 200,000 on private care. If you don't have it, be prepared to die within 6 months if you are at stage 4 cancer.

You have to understand one thing: human life (unless it's a Qatari life) counts NOTHING in this country. At the most QAR 150,000 "Blood Money".

I suggested that, Zackm. But you can see how people here look at it. "maafi mushkla . . . . we have been eating more worst than this, in our home countries. Enjoy the time as long as we are here."

why can't they shut them down permanently, isn't that logical...why have them open shop again and repeat the offense. This will send strong message to the violators that they can do it again and again after some time. So many cheats out there,,,,over hundred outlets? come on that just shows how much things are getting bad here.

Majority of expatriates suffered from constipation and stool infection in Qatar due to unhealthier diet specially eating outlet above mentioned. Ministry have to warn this violators.

LA LA LA - Anta Kharji- Sew your lips shut before talking about Qatar. OTHERWISE DEPORTING you is our ultimate strategy.

And the 'sleeping partners' are Qataris, of course.

WT: If they did that , the sleeping partners would lose money :O(

It is actually strange that these violators are allowed to continue operation after 10 or 20 days. They have shown that they don't care for the laws. They are basically 'unfit' to work in Qatar. Deport them!
